Hi,

We have a place that has easy access to the 91 freeway, public transit, and major streets (Adams and Magnolia). We are far enough removed from the main streets that everything is quiet. Tree lined street, providing plenty of shade. Numerous places to eat with one of the best Pizza Parlors in town nearly next door. Less than ten minutes from Tyler Mall and less than 20 minutes from downtown, this centrally located home will make it easy to work and play within Riverside.

You'll have your own 11 foot by 11 foot (approximately) room in a three bedroom house. Your room has mirrored closet doors and two double pane windows, a ceiling fan, and carpeting. Your room will be ready November 1, 2008.

We are an artistic, mellow, household seeking a roommate who can reliably afford 600 a month for their room. Run of the house including kitchen, patio, and large yard (gardening is encouraged). Utilities are included (but in the summer when the a/c is run 24/7 you might be asked for help), utilities include; power, water, gas, Internet access (wireless), and more.

The two roommates already here frequently (but not always) share food and do not want to live a place where there is a shelf designation. That's too much like being at work. You'll share this desire and, if you partake of food and drink, you'll preferably be willing to contribute to the food fund (good home cooked meals - but not all the time) and you'll have no problem helping keep the place clean (we're not perfect either).

This is a TV free house, we'd like it to stay that way if at all possible. Headphones are the most courteous way of listening to your music but every once in a while nobody will complain if you use a stereo or if your stereo is at a quiet enough volume it doesn't extend outside your room. Short of the TV and one other issue, we're mighty liberal. If you have a computer you won't miss the TV much because movies and programs you really enjoy are easily watched on the computer. If you don't have a computer there is a system set up for checking your e-mail and web browsing.

Courteous and respectful guests are allowed but not so frequently they live here. This means you can have a boyfriend or girlfriend over and it's not going to be an issue but you will be responsible for their behavior. On this topic, please respect the sound and space issues of your housemates, we really don't want to hear your good time.

Sailor Jerry's is the preferred house liquor but good beer is also very appreciated. We like to drink but we're not rowdy party people. Chilling with some good drink, some good company, some good conversation, and dim lights is a really appealing night for us.

No powder drugs, no exceptions! No pets (we already have two amazingly friendly dogs here).

HIV/AIDS is devastating communities around the world-and children are suffering the most. EVERY DAY, 6,000 children are orphaned by AIDS.

You are welcome to join us by coming and walking with us. Or, if you wish, by making a donation here. Either way, you will be making a difference for children fighting to survive the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time.
You can come and walk with us! We will be meeting at MESA GRANDE ACADEMY at 3:00 PM and walking to the CALIMESA SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH (about 6,000 steps - or a little over 2 miles - away). We're asking that each person contribute what they can - starting with at least $6.00 (one dollar for every 1,000 children), but you are welcome and encouraged to do more!

The people are turning against the U.S. war on Iraq, and President Bush is on the defensive. He is currently touring the country to defend his criminal policies of war, racism, greed and occupation.

On this tour, Bush is waging a campaign of lies. His biggest lie, a lie he has been repeating over and over again, is that this war is in the interests of working people here in the U.S. The truth is that working people in the U.S. and U.S. troops have much more in common with the Iraqi people than they ever will with the Bush administration, the Pentagon and Wall Street.

Now is the time for the anti-war movement to take the offensive. On Monday, August 29, let's greet Bush and tell him he's not welcome in Southern California. Bring your signs, voice of protests, drums and noisemakers!
== quote

DROP THE PHONY CHARGES ON SHAREEF ALEEM! SAY NO TO RACIST POLICE BRUTALITY!

On February 3rd, 2005, Denver activist, Shareef Aleem, was targeted and attacked by campus police at a Board of Regents meeting convened to discuss the University of Colorado's intended action against Ward Churchill. Shareef Aleem went to this meeting because it was advertised as an open meeting, and he wanted to film the event for Denver Community Television and show support for the students dissent against education cuts and fee hikes as well as their protest of attacks on Ward Churchill, a professor who blamed U.S. foreign policy for leading to the 9/11 attacks. Aleem stood up in the meeting after one activist had been asked to leave for openly addressing the Regents. He reiterated that the meeting was advertised as being public and stated, "Is this a free country or not? Do we live in a democracy or not? If not, let's stop calling it that." Campus cops then pushed aside an older Black woman and began grabbing Aleem, who told them to leave him alone and not touch him. He said he had a right to be there and that the students should be allowed to speak. Shareef was grabbed by cops, pulled down on top of one, had his hands bound and was shot in the neck with a taser.

HE HAS SINCE BEEN CHARGED WITH SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT ON AN OFFICER.

We are asking for national, and even, international support for this anti-racist activist who has challenged the brutal police in Denver and the surrounding metropolitan areas. This case is a political one because of the fact that Shareef showed support for the students who were expressing their dissent to the right-wing attacks on campuses across the country trying to silence progressive voices, and because Shareef has been so active against police brutality. His case is an attempt to silence him and his activism and to threaten those who stand by him and his actions. Also, the possibility of Shareef facing up to 16 years in prison is a real threat to his and his family's well being.

SHAREEF NEEDS THE SOLIDARITY OF JUSTICE-LOVING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE! BY ATTACKING SHAREEF'S RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH, THE POLICE ARE TRYING TO INTIMIDATE AND SILENCE THE ENTIRE SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENT IN DENVER AND AROUND THE COUNTRY!

AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL!

We are asking that people deluge the judge presiding his trial and the prosecuting District Attorney and let them know that we will not let Shareef be victimized and demand that the charges be dropped.

In defense of Aleem, send emails to defendshareef@yahoo.com and cards or money to pay for his attorney or letters of support in care of Aleem to 4860 Chambers Road, P.O. Box 173. Denver, CO 80239.

Letters of protest can also be sent to Judge Michael A. Cox, Adams County Justice Center, 1100 Judicial Center Dr., Brighton, CO 80601, or to Don Quick, 17th Judicial District Attorney, 1000 Judicial Center Dr., Suite 100, Brighton, CO 80601.

I'm in need of transportation to a party my friend is throwing. The music is going to be excellent, it's an outdoor location, and it should be a lot of fun. I believe the schedule is next weekend starting Friday and going through the entire holiday weekend. My preference is to stay and help clean up, of course the length of stay is entirely dependent on the driver's whim.

Standard preparation includes having a few changes of clothes for HOT and COLD weather. The extremes out there can be rather extreme. Plenty of sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. A tent and bedding. Your hygiene products for keeping your mouth clean and your body smelling relatively nice (it's really dry out there so everything just evaporates - odor is nominal). Snacky foods. Plenty of ice. Regular food. Toys to entertain yourself with (lights, fire, glowsticks, kites, devilsticks, zuni poi, etc). Camera.

I have already, my own tent, my own bedding, jugs for water (2 5 gallon jugs), a camp stove, propane for the stove, cookware, flatware, cups, a bathroom shovel, toilet paper, cooking skill, lots of ramen, My own toys (kite, lights, camera... ) I have plenty of music to take for the trip so we'll have plenty of good stuff to listen to that will whet your appetite for similar stuff on a BIG system. I have experience.

What you can expect, lots of dancing, meeting new people, making new friends, hearing good music you can't find anywhere else, some awesome fragrances from various kinds of incense and smoke, being too hot, being too cold, not getting a quiet place, hearing music the entire time we're there, picking up after yourself, setting up and breaking down camp when you don't really feel like it, getting there later than we ever intended, leaving there later than we ever intended, a Long drive.

I have no cash at the moment so we'll have to be creative about how I can cover my share of food and fuel but I'm open to exchanges of work, talent, skill, and experience.

Hey All:

Let's plan a movie night. I figure a week is a fair warning for enough people to show up. We can rendezvous somewhere and then either carpool or caravan to the drive-in.

We have a choice of theaters and programs. Our first option is the Van Buren Cinema and they're interesting because they have the ramped parking lot. It does help to get there early if you hope to see the screen without some SUV's tailgate in your face.

http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/catvanb

The other choice and the cinema that has my personal vote is Rubidoux. They don't have the ramped parking lot but they're also easier to get into and out of (in my opinion).

http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/catrubi

Programming and choice of theater are pending votes and RSVPs. I am in need of transportation. It would be wise to meet early, if we do my house I suggest 7:30 so that stragglers have a couple of minutes to get here. My preference would be 7pm so we can get there early enough to get a good spot.

Both theaters claim there is no "outside" barbecuing but I'm sure we could figure something out. If anyone has a small habachi or gas grill we should be able to cook up some veggies, hot dogs, burgers, steaks, what have you. I'm hoping we can all agree that a pot luck would be the most fun and allow us to make a picnic of sorts out of it. I have a great big cooler so we can toss a bunch of ice in it and put all our drinks in it (soda/beer/booze/water).

It's not quite the most social thing to do, watching a movie, but I think it'd be fun anyway. We could think about dessert or coffee or something after the movies but I've been there before and watching two or three movies in a row is rather exhaustive.

Cost of attendance is 5 bucks a head for adults. I think kids are free but you'll have to double check.

Hope this happens.

Hey peeps:

I'm needin' some cash so I'm putting it out there that I'm available for whatever odd jobs you got. I'd prefer to focus on my massage therapy but I'll clean a toilet before I'll be a whore or a drug dealer.

Skills include:

Massage Therapy (Certified), Computers, Web Design, HTML programming, Cleaning, Cooking, Typing (dictation and otherwise), Computer Networking (including wireless), Music Creation and Mastering, Engineering/Production Lessons for Making Music, Data Archiving, Dog Sitting, Digging, Planting, Moving, Driving, Washing Clothes, Decorating, Research, Crocheting, etc.

The point that I'm making here is that I'm in real need of some income and prefer to exchange the services of a skill I have. The job market is rather slim out here and my skills are clearly better suited to LA (Executive Secretary, Computer Geek, Massage Therapist, Musician) but I currently live here and would like to make the best of it.

Thanks for reading my post.
