Hey All:
Let's plan a movie night. I figure a week is a fair warning for enough people to show up. We can rendezvous somewhere and then either carpool or caravan to the drive-in.
We have a choice of theaters and programs. Our first option is the Van Buren Cinema and they're interesting because they have the ramped parking lot. It does help to get there early if you hope to see the screen without some SUV's tailgate in your face.

The other choice and the cinema that has my personal vote is Rubidoux. They don't have the ramped parking lot but they're also easier to get into and out of (in my opinion).

Programming and choice of theater are pending votes and RSVPs. I am in need of transportation. It would be wise to meet early, if we do my house I suggest 7:30 so that stragglers have a couple of minutes to get here. My preference would be 7pm so we can get there early enough to get a good spot.
Both theaters claim there is no "outside" barbecuing but I'm sure we could figure something out. If anyone has a small habachi or gas grill we should be able to cook up some veggies, hot dogs, burgers, steaks, what have you. I'm hoping we can all agree that a pot luck would be the most fun and allow us to make a picnic of sorts out of it. I have a great big cooler so we can toss a bunch of ice in it and put all our drinks in it (soda/beer/booze/water).
It's not quite the most social thing to do, watching a movie, but I think it'd be fun anyway. We could think about dessert or coffee or something after the movies but I've been there before and watching two or three movies in a row is rather exhaustive.
Cost of attendance is 5 bucks a head for adults. I think kids are free but you'll have to double check.
Hope this happens.

Re: Drive in Movie! A Quasi-Social.
Mon, August 16, 2004 - 8:25 PMOkay then, the plan is for this Friday night at the Rubidoux theater.
We can rendezvous at my place (I need a ride see), and go out from here. There are several grocery stores and fast food joints in the area that can provide good and bad gnosh for those hungry beasts we can all become without food stuffs in our bellies. Plus it would make it easier to get the cooler full of high fructose corn syrup and ice.
Please message privately for directions, telephone number, and my address.

Re: Drive in Movie! A Quasi-Social.
Wed, August 25, 2004 - 1:30 PMIt was fun. It ended up just being Gover and I but we got to see a couple of relatively good movies that neither of us had seen yet. It would be neat if we could figure something out that would inspire EVERYONE to show up on a relatively regular basis.
Hope to meet you all soon.

Re: Drive in Movie! A Quasi-Social.
Fri, August 27, 2004 - 3:00 PMThat does sound like a good time but I think I was aiming for something more compatible wiith the economically challenged in our community. Something we could ALL afford to do. From what I can remember of going out drinks aren't cheap at commercial places of gnoshing.
